Memoirs - Greenwich Village Days
(preliminary)

As I recall the several places in Greenwich Village, the famous (infamous?) neighborhood in New York City where I lived at two different times. One was on the East side (when I was going with Norma) and again when I moved in with Terry (the West Village).

Both experiences were very enjoyable, but both were temporary, most sadly the experience with Terry. (See "The Women in My Life.") My first experience was when I got involved with Norma. I decided I wanted to live nearby - but I could not afford to live in the West Village. So I got a cheap apartment on the "East Side" (East Village), which was cheap. It was a little "railroad flat" that was essentially a rectangle with a tiny bathroom and cooking facilities of some sort.

Norma came over but eventually we broke up and I had a brief affair with someone in the building. That didn't last and I moved out and probably back home again. I also had adopted Norma's dog Zeus. This was the dog who was afraid of water.

In order to give him a bath (actually a shower) I had to catch him (from under my bed) and drag him into the tub. Funny thing was once I turned on the shower, he loved it. Another time we got him drunk. Turned out he liked beer, so we just kept pouring it into his bowl. A drunk dog is very amusing.

Later on, as described in the above referenced section I moved in with my girlfriend Terry. It was nice living in the West Village. There were good theaters and interesting shops. It was just nice to walk around there. I already said I should have married this woman.

Oh well!
